Garland's Holiday Roundup

This year has taken a toll on our spirits and we are in “a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency.” But, in the wise words of Clark Griswold, “Nobody’s walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas!”

That’s right Mr. Grinch! Go ahead and cancel the wallowing in self-pity, staring into the abyss, and wrestling with your self-loathing because we come with enough Christmas cheer to melt any big Grinchy heart. To help you pep up, we’ve gathered all of our holiday events and happenings, wrapped them up here, and topped them off with a nice tidy bow.

Choose one or choose them all. Just remember, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” (We promise. That’s the last one. 😉)

Garland for Christmas

Are you skipping in-person shopping but still want to support Garland local businesses? Visit GarlandforChristmas.com for a full list of participating businesses that offer online shopping and curbside pick-up. From the comfort of your home, you can peruse the downtown shopping guide listed below and visit a variety of shops that offer online shopping, gift-wrapping, and curbside pickup.

Didn’t find what you needed? Firewheel Town Center is also offering in-store and curbside pickup.

Downtown Garland is Selfie Ready

The perfect setting for your holiday selfie is in Downtown Garland because Garland is lit! The glimmer of lights is ON every night between 5 and 11 PM. Take a selfie in front of our Christmas tree or in front of the many holiday-decorated storefronts. Then spread some holiday cheer! Tag your holiday selfie, around the square or the rest of town, with #GarlandforChristmas. Please remember your masks, wear them while indoors or not eating/drinking, and practice social distancing at all times.

Downtown Holiday Scavenger Hunt

We need to talk about your flair. Yes, we think that you need to express yourself with a little more. Luckily, the Landmark Museum at Heritage Crossing has the most coveted holiday flair that you can use to decorate your stocking. This weekend start at the museum to pick up a lanyard, a starting holiday pin, and a list of scavenger clues. Based on those clues, head to the businesses you think are the correct answers. If you are correct, you will receive more holiday flair for your lanyard or your stocking. Because that’s what flair’s about. It’s about fun! In this case, Garland history fun.

(We’ll admit we were sitting on our throne of lies when we promised no more movie puns.)

*This scavenger hunt ends Saturday, December 19.
