Spring Creek Nature Trails

Spring Creek Greenbelt is a large nature area running alongside Spring Creek in the northern sector of Garland, just south of the Bush Turnpike. Its four sections are all popular with families, hikers, and naturalists.

Spring Creek Forest Preserve was recently inducted into the Old-Growth Forest Network (OGFN). OFGN is the only national network in the U.S. of protected, old-growth, native forests and celebrates the oldest protected and publicly accessible forests.

The Preserve consists of three parcels of land totaling 100 acres of the larger Spring Creek Greenbelt. Old growth forest coverage varies from one third to two thirds of each tract with the balance in regenerating forest and prairie grass communities.

1419 Spring Creek Drive

Two new trailheads at Winters Park, 1419 Spring Creek Drive, the other at Halff Park, 4695 Ranger Drive. From ample parking facilities at both locations, the paths quickly descend into the wooded greenbelt along the creek.
